The NCP551 seems like the ideal LDO for battery powered applications:

  • up to 12V input voltage
  • ultra low Iq of 4.0µA
  • dropout voltage typ. 40mV
  • stable without output capacitor, stable with low ESR ceramic cap
  • only needs 0.1µF input decoupling cap
